Easter 2016

Evening all, hope you are all well and that you have all had a wonderful Easter. I cant believe its now Easter Monday and that the holiday weekend is almost over. I have to say that its been a pretty good one here with us despite the days prior being full of emergency dentist visits and head colds (both of which I hate having to deal with!).

Good Friday was spent shopping at Bluewater where I treated myself to a new top from the White Stuff sale, some blue suede Converse and a pair of jeans. Afterwards Tom decided to treat us to a bite to eat and after much deliberation we opted for our favorite which is tapas. We used to have a great local Spanish restaurant but sadly they closed a few years back and as yet we haven't found anywhere to rival the food, service and atmosphere that we used to get at Rebatos. However last year we tried Tapas Revolution which is located in the Bluewater shopping mall and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is really good and the service is great too, there is only a certain amount of atmosphere as you are in the middle of a shopping mall but it does the trick now now when we need a fix of all things Spanish. We came home and spent the evening watching our old Vegas DVD's whilst trying to decide on where to go next year on our American road-trip. At the moment we are torn between doing Tennessee or Route 66.....think there will be lots more research and investigations needed before we can come to a final decision.

On Saturday we did a little bit of food shopping and then chilled out for a few hours at home as we were off to Toms sisters house for a evening of Mexican fun. It was a good night, we all had sombreo's and fake mustaches to wear and Linda had cooked up a whole load of chili con carne, nachos, fajitas plus there were tequila slammers and margarita's on tap. Luckily as Tom was driving we managed to avoid the alcohol, however the same cant be said for the rest of the guests...I am sure there were a whole lot of sore heads yesterday morning. We left them dancing around the conservatory knocking back shots of whatever they could find!!

Easter Sunday came far too early for my liking, who's idea was it to put the clocks forward this weekend???!!. We had my family over for the day so I prepared a nice big buffet and made some chocolate Easter cupcakes. I used to bake a lot but had kind of given up till I was given a Kitchen Aid a few months ago. Since them my passion has been re-ignited and I am happy spending time in the kitchen baking up all sorts of things. Below is a picture of the cakes I made. I even experimented with some molds to make the little fondant flowers and dog.

Today has been a much more sedate affair. After a little lie in I have spent the most part of today in my craft room. I made two cards, one for a friend who is getting married tomorrow and one for our new neighbors who came to introduce themselves on Saturday. I had a little tidy of my room, put some layouts away and managed these three below.

This one is for our Vegas 2015 album and the pictures are of our room in the Venetian Resort and Casino. The papers are from the Bo Bunny Star Crossed collection.

The next one features a picture of my friend Sarah and I last year in Trafalgar Square, just before Christmas. Sarah came to stay with us for the weekend and join Tom and I on our annual walk around London to see the Christmas lights. It was a lovely evening that was made even more entertaining by us seeing hundreds of people dressed up as Santa (most of whom were very, very drunk). The papers I used for this are some very old SEi ones, they have been in my stash for years and years......yay to me finally using them!! I added some gems and a Prima swirl to make it sparkle a little.

Finally the last one for today is a picture of my lovely little Daisy dog. The papers and embellishments are all by Prima, to be honest I wasn't really sure about these papers at first but I really like how this has come out.The 'Princess' title which fits perfectly with the page is another old item, its a Jolees embellishment that I picked on one of our first trips to Vegas I think.

So that's it, Easter is almost over but its another short week for us this week as  we are off to the New Forest for a few days.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jane xx

Scrapping Saturday

Afternoon, I hope all is well with you and that you are having a lovely weekend.

Its a nice quiet and relaxed day here (just the way I like it). So far its been a lovely day full of cooking, baking and creativity. I have made WW Chicken Tikka for dinner tonight as well as a batch of Lemon and White Chocolate cupcakes. Hubby has gone to the pub so I have been able to indulge in my love of country music while I am home alone.

I have four layouts to share with you today....the first one is of my niece Scarlett giving Daisy a bath. We were at my Mums house and as is usual when we go there Daisy heads straight for the garden, however on this visit she managed to find a pile of fox's mess and immediately rolled in it!! Why oh why do dogs do that?? Luckily for me Scarlett offered to bath the stinky mutt which meant I had a great photo opportunity. For the layout I used papers and embellishments from the Simple Stories So Fancy collection pack. All I added additionally were a few strips of washi tape.

The second and third layouts are Christmas themed and the papers I have used are from the Bo Bunny Candy Cane Lane collection. The picture in the one below is of my sister and her family, they were lucky enough to spend Christmas 2014 in Australia and the pic shows them on Christmas Day in Port Macqurie. I added a couple of Basic Grey embellishments to this page as the colours matched perfectly.

The page below features a picture of my hubby, brother in law and nephew last Christmas. As is usual trying to get a decent picture of them all always results in a stupid one too - the joys of Christmas!! lol.

Layout number four is for Georges album and the pictures of of him and Lucy when they went to the Tower Hotel for dinner last year to celebrate Lucy's birthday. I loved the way the black and white pictures worked with the papers which I think are MME Chalkboard but I cant be sure. I added a Prima flower and a pearl swirl to finish this page off.

Thanks for stopping by, love and hugs. Jane xx

Something to Smile About

Thought I would pop by and do a quick post tonight to share my latest Weight Watchers weigh in.

The previous week wasn't brilliant as far as I was concerned as despite sticking to plan religiously I only lost half a pound. Now I know that is still good as it was a loss but I was a little disappointed as I had hoped for more. In hindsight I know that I probably hadn't eaten enough, I hadn't eaten all my daily points and I had barely touched my weeklies plus I had upped the amount I walk each day so I guess my calories in vs calories out was quite unbalanced. Anyway this week I was determined that my loss would be more, so I made sure that I was having all my dailies as well as having some of my weeklies. I even had a naughty slice of cake at my Mums on Mothers Day and a lovely home cooked roast dinner. I was keeping everything crossed for the WW scales tonight and am happy to report that my loss was a fab two and a half pounds which brings me to a total loss of thirteen and a half pounds!! I am so pleased with that result, this week my goal is to get at least half a pound to reach my first stone and get another silver 7 sticker for my weight loss chart.

I am so happy and totally motivated to carry on and get where I want to be. I can't believe how easy Weight Watchers is, I really love the whole ethos of the plan. Its not just about losing weight, its about achieving a healthier lifestyle and having a more positive outlook on life. Tonight's after class talk was all about positivity, we were encouraged to feel good about ourselves no matter how big or small our weight loss has been. We were also told that we should try and take at least 5 minutes each day to focus on something good and do something for yourself that makes you smile and feel good. It doesn't have to be anything big or fancy, just the simple things in life like finding an outfit that didn't fit but now does, hearing your favorite song on the radio or just getting 5 mins peace and quite to sit and have a cuppa.

So whats making me smile right now you might ask? Well the answer to that is Thursday is the new Friday for me this week as I am taking a days annual leave to go shopping and have lunch with my fab friend (and WW buddy) Cathy. When we started the plan we decided that we would set little goals and that when we reached them we would 'treat' ourselves. My first goal was to get below 11 stone which I finally achieved last night. So hurry up Friday and bring on the shopping and prosecco!!

Hope you are all having a good week.......and please try to make sure that you find a little something in every day that makes you smile. Time is precious and life is far too short to focus on the negative stuff.

Love and hugs, Jane xx

New Month, New Post

Well here we are in March, although with the turn in the weather it does feel more like January right now. Still the daffodils outside the flat are in full bloom so although it may not feel like Spring it is starting to look like it.

Its been a busy week here for me, I had another 2 orders for Mothers Day cards plus I had to make my own Mums card. Quite glad those are all done now so I can focus on scrap booking again.

I have a few layouts to share with you today, the first two are for my nephew's album and the pics are of him and his lovely girlfriend Lucy and the second two are of hubby and I on our Vegas holiday last year. For the first one I used a picture of them all done up for a Halloween themed night out. I used Bazzill cardstock as the base. The papers, letters and stickers are all Basic Grey, from the Out of Print collection.

The next layout has Bazzill cardstock as a base and the papers on this one are from a Me and My Big Ideas kit that I bought in the States last year. I coloured in some of the works on the top half of the layout to make them 'pop' a little and to match the red of the base. The embellishments are all from a old basic Grey kit and the ribbon and ric rac are from my stash. The pic is of G & L enjoying the Creamfields festival.

This next layout is of hubby and I on our flight out to Vegas last year. We flew out economy but were lucky enough to reserve seats in the upstairs cabin of the plane, it was a whole lot nicer than the main downstairs part as there are less people so it feels slightly more exclusive. Plus when you are in the 'bubble' you are the first one to board and exit the plane. For this page I have used papers and embellishments from the Echo Park Getaway collection. I bought papers these with the holiday pictures in mind so you will probably see a few more of them as I work my way through scrapping Vegas!

Finally the last layout (which I have to say is my fave) which I completed using my first Cocoa Daisy kit. I love the bright colours of the papers and embellishments, they suit this photo of me and hubby at the Vegas sign perfectly.

That's all for now, hope you have all have a great weekend. I am off to make another coffee before I settle back in my room to play with paper.

Love and hugs,

Jane xx
